It’s RED. It’s FRESH. It’s GREAT…
“I make wines that I like to drink, with lots of fruit, good colour and a rounded mouth-feel” says Dominique Morel. His family run estate is just north of Fleurie. Their 12 hectares have poor, stony, granitic soil which enrich the grapes as the vines work harder to source their nutrients from the ground below. It also adds a perfumed finesse characteristic of top wines in the region. In fact, although this is a Beaujolais Village, it cuts above many of the Cru wines that surround it. There is a complexity to this wine which chimes with Morel’s own desire to create a rounded mouth feel. It’s still fresh, vibrant and energetic but just so much more satisfying than other thinner Beaujolais we’ve had before.
