We think the name is a combination of Hecuba, the Queen Of Troy, and Yecla, the town in the heart of Murcia. Mother to nineteen children including Hector and Paris, Hecuba would indeed be a fitting inspiration for this powerful wine.
Murcia is famous for its long hot summer days reaching 42C and cool winter nights that can get as cold -10C. Wines are typically much bolder and richer due to these high summer temperatures so varieties such as Monastrell are typically found here, a warrior grape that can withstand this flux and honour the mythical lady that graces the bottle.
